What Is Disney Planning for the Sixth Movie?
According to producer Jerry Bruckheimer, two Pirates of the Caribbean projects are currently in development. One is a reboot with a brand-new cast, while the other was originally planned to feature Margot Robbie. However, Robbie confirmed in late 2022 that her project had been canceled. Despite this, Bruckheimer later suggested that the idea might still be revived in the future.
So, what direction will Pirates of the Caribbean 6 take? Will it be a completely new story, or will it continue Jack Sparrow’s journey? As of now, Disney has yet to provide an official answer.
Will Johnny Depp Return as Jack Sparrow?
The relationship between Johnny Depp and Disney became strained after his legal battle with Amber Heard in 2022. During the trial, Depp stated that he would not return as Jack Sparrow “even for $300 million and a million camels.” However, in 2023, rumors surfaced that Disney had reached out to Depp with a new offer, though neither side has confirmed anything officially.
Fans remain divided on this issue. Some believe no one else can play Jack Sparrow, while others argue that the franchise needs a new direction to move beyond the character’s immense legacy.
Could Davy Jones Be Coming Back?
At the end of Dead Men Tell No Tales, the mid-credit scene showed the shadowy figure of Davy Jones (played by Bill Nighy) entering Will Turner’s bedroom. However, when Will woke up, there was no one there—only wet footprints on the floor. This raised a major question: Has Davy Jones truly returned, or was it all just a nightmare?
If Disney decides to bring back this iconic villain, they could further explore the supernatural elements of Pirates of the Caribbean. Davy Jones was killed by Will Turner, but could dark forces resurrect him? And if he does return, will Jack Sparrow have to face him once again?
